Purpose

This website exists as some kind of incomplete attempt to build a public memory.

I am a person trying to make nice websites and—sometimes—other things. This is a place to publicly record and share that work. It's a website and a home for those other things (writing, reading, photography, art, software, or whatever hypothetical other things I can manage to make).

matthewhowell.net is not quite an archive or a catalog, it is simply a reference to help me remember. It exists at least as much for me as for anyone else.

The Web is the platform that I love the most and this is my small, personal contribution to it. Long live the small, slow, weird, indie web. May we all keep making other things.

And may we all—forever—be the publishers of our own hypertext.
